My Approach

Baz Grainger, the Landscape Tailor runs his award-winning garden design studio from Sevenoaks. He creates striking and beautiful garden around the South East of England. Each garden is designed with respect to the clients needs but always with a focus on  environmental issues. Baz’s designs are a balance of contemporary and modern aesthetic, mixing natural and man made with modern design layouts.

Originally trained in menswear, with over twenty years experience working in the fashion industry at the highest level as a Design Director,  Baz changed career to garden design in 2021.

I love the idea of a man made urban space interrupted by the random natural forms of plants within that organised, rigid landscape. The reverse of this is a chaotic and meandering natural landscape broken by the clean and sometimes harsh lines of something man made equally fascinate and inspire my design approach”.

Inspired by his many visits to the Chelsea Flower Show since 2000, Baz completed his first ever show garden at RHS Hampton Court in 2021 and was delighted to receive a Silver Medal and Best Global impact Garden for The Fashion Footprint Garden.

Since showing at RHS Hampton Court Garden festival in 2021 Baz has worked with designer Alan williams on his Parsely box Garden exhibited at RHS Chelsea Flower show in September. The garden won a Silver medal and was voted ‘Peoples choice’ award. Baz also worked with The Outdoor room on the build for the Guanzhou garden designed by Peter Chmeil and Chin-Jung Chen. The garden was awarded a gold medal and the prestigious Best show garden. Since then Baz has worked closely with Jamie Butterworth to design and develop the PLace2be garden for RHS Chelsea flower show 2022. He and Landscape contractor, On the Ground Ltd, built the garden which was awarded a Gold medal, a rarity for a first timer at the show.
